HQ4 Baseball & Softball Summer Camps: Program Outline
Coach Bagwell has developed a plan for each day, designed to teach your player the proper fundamentals of the game: throwing, fielding and hitting.
Players are grouped by age and skill level, and then taught a throwing progression appropriate for their age group. We work on proper throwing mechanics every day.
Players are given specific defensive position training. Each player is asked to choose a primary position and a secondary position (pitcher, catcher, infield, or outfield). Players work on their primary position for three days and their secondary position for two days.
Players are taught base running skills each day, including Coach Bagwell’s 5-man base running drill.
Players are put through “situations” drills on the field to teach defensive strategy, and to explain where the proper play is in different situations.
Players are taught the fundamentals of hitting, with various drills including dry swing drills, T drills, front toss drills and soft toss. They also get live, on field pitching. We hit every day!
Each day after lunch players hear a 15 minute lecture from one of our coaches on an important topics like bunting, attitude and demeanor, tryout skills, and other topics that will help them learn about their game.
Fridays after lunch we have fun with our famous Egg Toss Contest and Home Run Derby.
